One of the more intriguing young players on the free-agent market is set to re-sign with the Chicago Bulls.
Restricted free agent guard Josh Giddey has signed a four-year, $100-million deal to stay in Chicago, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Tuesday.Â
The Bulls tendered Giddey a qualifying offer in June, making him a restricted free agent, but have now locked up the young player for multiple seasons.
Giddey, 22, is coming off a solid first year with the Bulls in which he averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game while shooting 46.5 per cent from the field and 37.8 per cent from three-point range.Â
He really turned it up in the back half of the season, averaging 20.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.1 assists per game while shooting 49.1 per cent from the field and 45.1 per cent from deep February onwards.Â
Drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder sixth overall in 2021, Giddey was dealt to the Bulls ahead of last season in a one-for-one swap that saw the Thunder net Alex Caruso.Â
Over 280 career games, Giddey has averaged 14.1 points, 7.5 rebounds and 6.1 assists.
