The île-aux-Tourtes bridge will be completely closed during the upcoming weekend for maintenance, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility announced Monday.
The traffic closure will be in effect from Friday, Sept.12, at 11:59 p.m., to Monday, Sept. 15, at 5 a.m.:
Complete closure of Highway 40 westbound between Exit 41 (Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants, Highway 20 westbound, Île Perrot) and the entrance from Avenue Saint-Charles.
Westbound, access to Chemin de Senneville will be maintained for local traffic.
Complete closure of Highway 40 eastbound between Exit 35 (Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac, Vaudreuil-Dorion, Avenue Saint-Charles) and the entrance from Boulevard des Anciens-Combattants.
Closures are to be expected at the Highway 30 and 40 interchange. Users are encouraged to use Highways 20 and 30.
Complete closure of l’Île-aux-Tourtes from Sept. 12, 11:59 p.m. to Sept. 15, 5 a.m. (CNW Group/Ministry of Transportation and Sustainable Mobility)
The ministry said that the weekend closure was due to reconfiguration work needed ahead of the opening of the fifth lane as of Sept. 15.
“Once this additional lane is reopened, dynamic traffic management will be reinstated, making three of the five lanes available in the direction of traffic during peak periods.
During this closure, the public is encouraged to use public transit and take advantage of the mitigation measures in place. Tolls will be suspended in both directions on Highway 30 to provide an additional option.
Road users who need to travel in the area are asked to allow extra time to reach their destination.
The ministry said that starting Sept. 15, three of the five lanes will be available towards Montreal, from midnight to 10 a.m. on weekdays and towards Vaudreuil-Dorion, from noon to 10 p.m. on weekdays, as well as on weekends and holidays. The entrance from Rue des Pins to Highway 40 westbound will also reopen on Sept. 15.
End of public transit fare measures as of Oct. 1
The ministry also announced that as of Oct. 1, the discount on 10-trip tickets, All Modes ABC, will no longer be offered to public transit users. Fares will correspond to those in the ARTM fare schedule, i.e., $60.25 for the regular fare and $40.25 for the reduced fare.
Temporary parking lots near the Vaudreuil station will be gradually removed. The one on Boileau Street will remain accessible until Dec. 31, 2025, while the one near Émile-Bouchard Street will remain until further notice.
Several other mitigation measures will remain in effect, including: additional train departures on Line 11 Vaudreuil/Hudson; continued and increased funding for more than 100 bus departures per day in the La Presqu’Île sector; improvements allowing buses to use the shoulder (UAB) on several sections of the A-40 in Montreal and Vaudreuil-Dorion.
