NEWARK, N.J. – The La Salle men’s soccer team earned a 2-0 road victory over NJIT on Tuesday evening at Lubetkin Field, its first win of the season. With the win, the Explorers improved to 1-1-3 on the season.
La Salle opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when sophomore forward Zach Forehand finished a throughball pass from Zeke Zambrano to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. The Explorers doubled their advantage in the 78th minute as sophomore Kyrese Lynch-Bailey converted on an assist from Pedro Amadou to seal the result.
NJIT outshot La Salle 20-9, but goalkeeper Tino Kneis was stellar between the posts, recording four saves to secure his first shutout of the year. The Explorers placed six of its nine shots on goal, making the most of its chances in the attacking third.
The match featured four yellow cards, split evenly between the two sides.
La Salle returns home this weekend to play Drexel Saturday evening at 7 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium. The game will stream on ESPN+.
