Angel Reese recently called out the Sky’s supporting cast during an interview with the Chicago Tribute.

The Sky responded by suspending Reese for the first half of this past Sunday’s game against the Aces. The team said they’re “committed to accountability so our players can stay focused on playing basketball.”

A few days later, Reese removed any mention of the Chicago Sky from her Instagram bio.

When the Chicago Sky selected Angel Reese with the No. 7 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, she immediately became the face of the franchise. Although it may sound absurd, the two sides could be heading for a divorce this upcoming offseason.

Since going pro in 2024, Reese has averaged 14.1 points and 12.9 rebounds per game for the Sky. The LSU product is already a two-time All-Star and has her own signature sneaker with Reebok. Suffice to say, she’s one of the most popular players in the WNBA.

During a recent interview with the Chicago Tribune, Reese voiced her frustration over the Sky’s lack of success as a team. She believes the supporting cast needs major upgrades.

“I’m not settling for the same s**t we did this year,” Reese told the Chicago Tribune. “We have to get good players. We have to get great players. That’s a nonnegotiable for me. I’m willing and wanting to play with the best. And however I can help to get the best here, that’s what I’m going to do this offseason to make sure we attract the best of the best, because we can’t settle for what we have this year.”

The Sky disciplined Reese by suspending her for the first half of this past Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Aces. They said this punishment would be their way of teaching their players accountability.

Just two days later, WNBA fans noticed that “Chi-Town Barbie” is no longer in Reese’s bio on Instagram. In fact, there’s zero mention of the Sky.

This doesn’t necessarily mean a trade involving Reese is on the horizon, buts some fans believe she’ll request a trade soon.

“AND HERE WE GO,” one fan said.

“She’s gone,” another fan commented.

Will the Sky actually trade Reese?

Technically, the Sky shouldn’t feel any pressure to move Reese this offseason. They have her under contract for the 2026 season and hold a club option for 2027.

If the Sky part ways with Reese, they’ll undoubtedly lose some of their fan base. That’s the risk they run with getting rid of a fan favorite like her.

We can’t wait to see how this situation involivng Reese and the Sky unfolds. For now though, we’re not expecting to see a blockbuster deal.
