Over the past few minutes, the Montreal Canadiens organization released their behind-the-scenes video of the 2025 NHL Draft.

In fact, we find out that general manager Kent Hughes made an unexpected and very interesting phone call just before acquiring Zharovsky at the draft.

We love it! Check out the scene in question:

There are so many interesting takeaways from this sequence.

1- It shows how much Kent Hughes trusts his players, how much he wants to involve them in certain organizational decisions, and how much value he places on their opinion.

2- It shows that Ivan Demidov is 100% in favor of acquiring young Alexander Zharovsky and even contributed to the decision.

3- It also shows certain qualities Kent Hughes looks for in a young player (being a good teammate, being good in the locker room, and having a strong work ethic).

Clearly, the Canadiens’ GM does his homework before making an acquisition!

Also, please note this, which explains it very well:

“Ivan Demidov & Alexander Zharovsky are childhood friends who played on the same team when they were kids.”
