The Spoke Folks Cycling Club is out in full spin.

On September 1, the club hosted Retro Bike Day, an idea conceived by club member Dave Toman where cyclists ride their oldest bikes. The winner this year was Don Walker of Sequim who rode a 53-year-old 1972 Schwinn Pro Sport.

Coming up, the annual gathering of “Ancient and Honorable Cyclists” over the age of 80 will convene at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at the Sunland beach shelter on the corner of Serpentine Road and Jamestown Road.

There are currently 17 members from the age of 81 to 89, including Dick Gritman, 89. They actively ride with younger Spoke Folks members too.

Organizers anticipate five more members joining on Friday. All our welcome with refreshments served.
