ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Women’s Soccer dropped its non-conference contest to Furman Thursday night (Sept. 11) at Greenwood Field by a score of 3-0.

Furman paced the offensive play in the first half, outshooting UNC Asheville 9-2 in the period. The Paladins would break through for the game’s first goal in the 25th minute when Maddie Massie scored her third of the season from Callah Dando. Furman would keep the offensive pressure up as they took their 1-0 lead to the half. Despite the offensive pressure, Asheville outworked Furman 4-2 on corner kicks in the opening period.

Furman would pick up where they left off in the second half, controlling the pace offesnviely in the match. The Paladins stretched their lead in the 62nd minute when Norah Roller scored her second of the season off an assist from Ellie Herrmann. Furman’s final goal would come in the 87th minute when Katelyn Nixon scored her second of the season from Bri Pinasco.

Asheville totaled six shots in the match, including one on goal to go along with four corner kicks.

Lili Adams led Asheville with three shots in the match, while Lilly Graumann, Shae Hassig and Jordan Schaetzly each had one shot in the match. Gracie Murray (2-3-1) made six saves in the match.
