LIBERTY, Mo. — The Harding men’s soccer team dropped a 2-0 non-conference decision to William Jewell of the Great Lakes Valley Conference on Friday afternoon at Greene Stadium, unable to recover from two early goals by the Cardinals.
William Jewell took the lead in the 13th minute when Elliot Labeth connected on a cross from Alexis Ibarra, placing the shot into the top left corner of the goal. The Cardinals extended their lead shortly after halftime, as Kaleb Fannin scored in the 48th minute with an assist from Zach Nichols, making the score 2-0.
Harding’s offense out-shot William Jewell 11-8 for the match, but the Cardinals held the edge in shots on goal, 4-3. The Bisons also had two corner kicks to William Jewell’s five, and committed four fouls to the Cardinals’ six.
With the loss, Harding’s record moves to 1-2-1 on the season. William Jewell improved to 1-2-0.
The Bisons will return home for their next match, hosting DBU on Thursday, Sept. 18. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Stevens Smith Soccer Complex in Searcy.
