It’s almost time for the 2025 Emmys, the biggest celebration for TV shows. The Apple TV+ hit Severance is going into the Emmy Awards with the most nominations, 27 in total, followed by HBO’s The Penguin with 24, and another Apple TV+ show, Seth Rogen’s The Studio, is tied with the HBO hit The White Lotus with 23 nominations each.
In the coveted Best Drama Series category, it’s between Andor, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, Paradise, The Pitt, Severance, Slow Horses and The White Lotus. While in the Best Comedy Series race, Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Hacks, Nobody Wants This, Only Murder in the Building, Shrinking, The Studio, and What We Do in the Shadow are all contenders.

In the U.S., the Emmy Awards will be available for streaming on Paramount+. While the same streaming option won’t be available for Canadians, the ceremony can be watched live on CTV.ca and the CTV app.
Emmys red carpet start time
Each year there are a few options for red carpet coverage of the Emmy Awards.
Live From E!: Countdown to the 2025 Emmys will start at 5:00 p.m. ET/2:00 p.m. PT on E!, with actor Bresha Webb, Happy’s Place star Melissa Peterman, designer Christian Siriano and style guru Zanna Roberts Rassi. Then Live From E!: 2025 Emmys begins at 6:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. PT with TV host Zuri Hall and comedian Heather McMahan.
People’s editor at large and host Janine Rubenstein, Entertainment Weekly’s editor-in-chief Patrick Gomez and editorial director Gerrad Hall will be joined by fashion historian/archivist and The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Bronwyn Newport for a red carpet live show, which begins at 6:00 p.m. ET/3:00 p.m. PT. It’s available to stream on on People’s social platforms and YouTube.
Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner will also host a their red carpet special, which begins at 7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT.

Who is hosting the 2025 Emmys
Comedian Nate Bargatze is hosting the 77th Emmy Awards. His comedy special Your Friend, Nate Bargatze, is also nominated for two Emmys.
“It’s a huge honour to be asked to host such an iconic awards show and I’m beyond excited to work with CBS to create a night that can be enjoyed by families around the world,” a statement from Bargatze reads.
“Nate is one of the hottest comics in the business with a remarkable and hilarious brand of comedy that deeply resonates with multi-generational audiences around the globe,” Television Academy Chair Cris Abrego shared. “We are thrilled to be able to leverage his one-of-a-kind perspective to entertain TV fans watching this year’s Emmy telecast.”

Emmy TV anniversary celebrations
This year the Emmy Awards will celebrate the anniversaries of beloved shows. It will include Alexis Bledel and Lauren Graham celebrating the 25th anniversary of Gilmore Girls, Jeff Probst on 50 seasons of Survivor, and Reba McEntire, Karen Fairchild and Kimberly Schlapman will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Golden Girls.
