Montembeault never ceases to impress me! I want to give you some context first.
As you also know, the “regular” Canadiens players (the veterans) are also practicing every day on the ice in Brossard.
This week, the rookies were on rink #1, while at the same time, the veterans were practicing on rink #2.
And as TVA Sports journalist Anthony Martineau mentions, the veteran Canadiens players have to cross the ice where the rookies are practicing in order to get back to their locker room.
So they all crossed paths briefly, and that’s when Montembeault made a gesture that says so much about the kind of person he is.

This really shows what kind of athlete Montembeault truly is.
He knows very well that Fowler could “steal” his spot fairly soon, he knows that Fowler is seen as the future number-one goalie of the Montreal Canadiens, he knows they’ll soon be in serious internal competition – and despite all that, he’s doing everything he can to help him.
He’s doing everything he can to make Fowler the best goalie possible.
Montembeault is really doing everything to help Fowler, to give him little tips, and to make sure young Fowler feels welcome with the Montreal Canadiens.

Seeing Montembeault take the time to stop like that and spend such a long moment with Jacob Fowler – that’s huge!
