The Week 2 late afternoon slate of games is thin featuring only three matchups in this window with the Super Bowl LIX rematch headlining. The Kansas City Chiefs look to exact a little revenge when they host the Philadelphia Eagles at Arrowhead. Other games include Denver visiting Indianapolis and Arizona hosting Carolina.

In the afternoon slate’s main event, it’s the Eagles and Chiefs renewing one of the NFL’s best new rivalries. This will be the fourth time these teams have faced off since 2023, with two of the previous matchups coming in Super Bowls, which they’ve split, and another regular-season game the Eagles won for the 2-1 edge.

Philly most recently dominated February’s Super Bowl LIX matchup, never allowing Patrick Mahomes to get comfortable, sacking the former MVP six times. Jalen Hurts played an efficient game with his legs being the X factor in him taking home Super Bowl MVP honors. Two years earlier, it was the reverse with Mahomes starring in the hero role, with three touchdown tosses, achieving his second Super Bowl MVP.

Kansas City had a rough start to the season in Week 1, falling to the Los Angeles Chargers at home, 27-21. So, the Chiefs will be looking to get back on track this week, having never started a season 0-2 in the Patrick Mahomes era. They’ll need to get the running game going, as Mahomes led the team in rushing with 57 yards last week. Running backs Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt combined for 41 yards rushing against the Chargers. If the Kansas City Chiefs can’t bolster the run game, it could be a long Sunday afternoon.

Philadelphia hasn’t played in 10 days, since they hosted the 2025 season opener and beat the rival Dallas Cowboys, 24-20. Hurts passed for a mere 152 yards in the season debut, but his legs got a good workout, as the Super Bowl MVP rushed for 62 yards and two touchdowns.

Defensively, the Eagles gave up more total yards than the offense gained in Week 1 against Dallas, notably without star defensive tackle Jalen Carter, who was ejected before the first offensive play from scrimmage after spitting on Dak Prescott. Carter’s ejection effectively served as his one-game suspension, so he’ll be back in action Sunday afternoon as a key contributor, particularly against the run. Discipline will also be top of mind for Philadelphia, as the Eagles garnered nine penalties (110 penalty yards) as a team.
