Curtis Jones is still out as Liverpool prepare for the Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid, with Jayden Danns among those to join training on Tuesday.

Jones missed the 1-0 win at Burnley on Sunday due to an injury suffered in the victory over Arsenal before the international break.

Arne Slot gave no details regarding his issue and the midfielder is still absent ahead of the visit of Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night.

Twenty-one outfield players were seen in training on Tuesday afternoon, with Danns the only academy regular to join Slot’s squad.

Alexander Isak took part in the session ahead of his Liverpool debut, while Alexis Mac Allister was also involved despite taking a blow to the ankle at Turf Moor.

There are no new issues within the squad, with Stefan Bajcetic the only other absentee.

It remains to be seen how Liverpool will line up for their Champions League opener but Slot is likely to make changes from the side which beat Burnley.

Andy Robertson is the most obvious candidate, with the vice-captain due to replace Milos Kerkez at left-back, while Conor Bradley could also come in along with Isak.

Federico Chiesa was involved in Tuesday’s session as usual but will not be available against Atletico Madrid having been left out of Liverpool’s Champions League squad.

Slot prefers to work with a smaller group in these sessions meaning fewer opportunities for those in the youth ranks, with the likes of Trent Kone-Doherty, Kieran Morrison and Kaide Gordon instead training with the U21s.

That comes ahead of the UEFA Youth League clash with Atletico Madrid’s U19s earlier on Wednesday, with Kone-Doherty and Morrison both expected to start that tie.

Danns, Trey Nyoni, Rio Ngumoha, Giovanni Leoni and Armin Pecsi are all eligible for the U19s.
