Ligue 1+, the upstart branded subscription streaming service for France’s top-flight LFP soccer league (“Ligue des Football Professionnel”) has generated more than 1 million (1.026 million) paid subscribers after one month of service.
LFP, which is operating Europe’s first soccer league-based SVOD, says 72% of current Ligue 1+ subscribers have committed to the entire 10-month season at $17.77 per month. The SVOD aims to make up the fiscal shortfall when streaming platform DAZN dropped coverage of Ligue 1 in 2024, which amounted to a $455 million annual fiscal loss.
The subscriber tally, which was initially set for the entire 2025/2026 season, underscores a strong public affinity to the French Ligue 1 McDonald’s championship and French clubs, as well as an immersive content offering supported by the LFP clubs.
In addition to games, Ligue 1+ offers match highlights, behind-the-scenes video regarding match preparations and interviews with the players.
With its three links “Kick-off, 90+1,” “Ligue 1+ Le Club,” and the new digital movie, Identité, about the Aug. 31 Olympique Lyon vs Olympique Marseille soccer match, the SVOD aims to target more than just hardcore French soccer fans.
Ligue 1+ is distributed in part by Samsung, LG, Google, Apple and Amazon Fire TV via the Ligue 1+ app, and on DAZN, Prime Video, RMC Sport, Molotov, Orange, Free, SFR, Bouygues Telecom. The creation of coupled offers by partners and their marketing mechanisms have reinforced the penetration of Ligue 1+ in the market.
