A newly released report by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has revealed a striking disparity in pension payments across Ghana.

According to the Indexation of Pensions 2025 league tables, the highest-paid pensioner in the country will receive a monthly pension of GH¢201,792.37, an amount that is 392 times greater than the lowest-paid pensioner, who earns just GH¢514.41.

The data also highlights contrasting rates of increase applied during the 2025 indexation.

The league tables list the ten highest and ten lowest pension earners, with top-tier pensions starting from GH¢58,031.91 and bottom-tier payments reaching up to GH¢669.54.

As Ghana faces ongoing economic challenges and rising living costs, the wide gap in retirement incomes is sparking renewed attention, particularly for pensioners whose earnings fall well below the national average.
