Taylor Fritz makes his return to the Laver Cup this week, marking his fifth appearance at the team event.

Fritz helped guide Team World to back-to-back Laver Cup success in 2022 and 2023, and has a 5-2 win-loss record from his seven matches.

With 10 points to his name from his four appearances, the American is fifth in Team World’s all-time Laver Cup points scoring list.

San Francisco welcomes many of the top ATP players for this year’s tournament, along with two new coaches.

Andre Agassi has taken over from John McEnroe for Team World, with Yannick Noah replacing Bjorn Borg for Team Europe.

Speaking before the action starts, Fritz has shared insight into his relationship with Agassi, which may include a funny stumbling block.

“Andre Agassi is someone that I think a lot of us American guys looked up to for a very long time, and I looked up to when I was a kid, so I’m really excited to get the chance to be on court with him and play under him,” said Fritz, as quoted by the Laver Cup website.

“I’m very excited to get the chance to pick Andre’s brain. Some people made some jokes that we might not get a lot of practicing done with all the talking that we might be doing, but I’m really excited for the opportunity to be on court and work through that process with him.”

Taylor Fritz makes prediction about Joao Fonseca for the 2025 Laver Cup

Fritz was also on hand to discuss one of the most exciting prospects at the Laver Cup, and indeed on the ATP Tour in general.

He spoke highly of Brazilian star Joao Fonseca, with the 19-year-old making his tournament debut this week.

Fritz said of his teammate: “I think he’s going to come out and compete as hard as he can, and I think he’s going to light it up.

“I’m really excited to have him on the team… we’re going to get to spend a lot of time together and hopefully he brings all the Brazilian fans to cheer for us.”

Despite his brief career so far, Fonseca boasts a huge following, and he’s also already claimed one ATP title.

But he may just need some guidance from an experienced player like Fritz, who should incidentally receive huge support in San Francisco.
