Donald Trump may have just thrown shade at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle while spending time with the British Royal Family during an official visit to the UK.
The US President, who made his feelings about Harry and his “terrible” wife very clear in the past, is cozying up to the rest of the Royal Family this week. He was welcomed to the UK by Prince William, Kate Middleton, King Charles III, and Queen Camilla on Wednesday, September 17, before being hosted, alongside wife Melania Trump, at a state banquet in Windsor Castle.
There, Trump gave a speech to express his gratitude to the Royals, making sure to only mention one of the King’s two sons and one of his two daughters-in-law.
“I just want to say that His Majesty has also raised a remarkable son in His Royal Highness, Prince of Wales. Really amazing,” Trump said, per Page Six, omitting any mention of the Duke of Sussex. Trump noted that he is “delighted” to be in Britain and said that he and Melania have “gotten to know” William, 43, since their arrival.

“I think you’re going to have an unbelievable success in the future,” the 79-year-old continued, going on to call Middleton, “so radiant and so healthy [and] so beautiful.” This wasn’t the first comment Trump made about Middleton’s looks that day…
Trump and Prince Harry have kept their disdain for one another barely beneath the surface over the years.
In 2020, Trump insisted the United States would not pay for Harry and wife Meghan Markle’s security when they moved to California after leaving the Royal Family. Harry and Meghan never gave any indication that they planned to ask the US to cover their security.
In 2022, he told Piers Morgan that Harry was “whipped like no person he has ever seen.” Upon returning to office in 2024, Trump hinted that Harry could be deported from the US over the drug usage he mentioned in his memoir, Spare.
“If he lied [on his application], they’ll have to take appropriate action,” the President said. In February 2025, he backed off the deportation suggestion, telling the New York Post: “I don’t want to do that. I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”
Harry, meanwhile, has been a little more subtle. He appeared to take a swipe at Trump, the MAGA movement and his ally at the time, Elon Musk, during a February talk at the Upfront Summit in Los Angeles.
“Now, this would be a great time to talk about how a sickness in leadership across sectors, from politics to tech, can have a detrimental effect on millions, if not billions, of people,” the Duke of Sussex said, according to The Daily Mail, shortly after Trump’s comments about Markle.
Well, it’s safe to say that we know which side of the Royal feud Trump sits on.
