The Chicago Bears will host the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday in the Week 3 NFL schedule as the Bears try and move on from last week’s disastrous outcome against the Lions. The Bears fell to 0-2 following a 52-21 loss to Detroit, with new Bears head coach Ben Johnson going against his former employers for the first time. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are coming off a wild 40-37 overtime victory against the New York Giants, which included a 64-yard field goal from Brandon Aubrey as time expired in the fourth quarter, to improve to 1-1. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET from Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois. The Cowboys are 1-point favorites, while the over/under is 50.5 points.

Meanwhile, the Bears rank 15th in scoring at 22.5 points per game. The Lions scored on eight of their 12 possessions last week, including seven touchdowns, against the Chicago defense, and the model projects Dallas to take advantage of similar matchups with the Cowboys covering the spread in 57% of simulations.

Over 50.5 total points

Despite last week’s victory, the Cowboys allowed 37 points to Russell Wilson and a Giants offense that looked completely hopeless in Week 1. The Giants scored no touchdowns and just six points against the Commanders in Week 1, yet one week later, Wilson threw for 450 yards and three touchdowns against Dallas. The Cowboys are still adjusting to playing without Micah Parsons, who they traded to the Packers, and their defense has certainly taken a hit without him. The offense carries the burden of needing to score more to help the defense, and last week proved they are capable of that. The Over is 7-3 over the last 10 Cowboys games, dating back to last season. Meanwhile, the Bears have gone Over their over/under total in each of their first two weeks of the season, as Chicago ranks last in scoring defense at 39.5 ppg. The model projects the Over to hit in 50% of simulations, and it projects these two teams to combine for 52 points.
