History

Washington, D.C. – Carlo Acquista has been the Fordham men’s soccer head coach for seven years and has accomplished many things, including an Atlantic 10 Championship and multiple NCAA appearances. However, there was one thing he hadn’t done prior to today. Play George Washington University on the road. That changed this afternoon as not only did Acquista lead his troops against the Revolutionaries, the Rams also picked up the win with a 1-0 shutout at the GW Soccer Field.

With the win, Fordham goes to 4-2-2 overall, 1-0-1 in the Atlantic 10, while George Washington falls to 2-5-1 overall, 0-1-0 in the A-10.

How it Happened
• Fordham broke the 0-0 tie when Daniel Lang took a feed from Lukas Gatti and beat George Washington keeper Tom Macauley in the fourth minute.

• The one goal held up as Fordham outshot the Revolutionaries, 17-7.

Notes
• Grad student keeper Tristan Stephani totaled three saves for the Rams in recording his third clean sheet of the year.

• Stephani lowered his goal against average to 0.25.

• It was only the third time this year that senior midfielder Daniel D’Ippolito did not score a point.

What’s Next?
• The Rams continue Atlantic 10 play and return to Moglia Stadium at Jack Coffey Field to take on the VCU Rams on Saturday, September 27, at 7:00 p.m.
