The Indiana Fever meet the Las Vegas Aces in Game 1 of the best-of-5 WNBA semifinals today. A’ja Wilson of Las Vegas earned league MVP honors, and Indiana’s Kelsey Mitchell was a finalist. Indiana won the season series between the teams 2-1, but Las Vegas has lost just one game since Aug. 2.

We will have score updates and highlights throughout, so please remember to refresh.

Natasha Howard and Kelsey Mitchell has combined for 21 of the Fever’s 33 points. Howard is 4-of-4 from the field with 10 points. Mitchell is 5-of-11 with 11 points.

WNBA MVP A’ja Wilson has found her groove. Wilson has made three of her last five shooting attempts after going 1-of-7 from the field to start the game. Wilson leads the Aces with 10 points. The Fever lead the Aces 33-31 with 2:37 left in the half.

The battle of former South Carolina Gamecocks forwards has been a good one so far. A’ja Wilson, fresh off being named WNBA MVP for a record fourth time this morning, is 1 for 7 with three points, five rebounds and a block. Aliyah Boston has been the primary defender on Wilson and forced tough catches and shots over her length.

Kelsey Mitchell has seven of Indiana’s 19 points in the first quarter on 3-for-6 shooting. Aliyah Boston added four points, four rebounds and two assists and Natasha Howard had six points.

Indiana led 19-18 after the first quarter. But the Fever allowed an 8-0 run to the Aces, who are paced by Jackie Young’s five points.

The burst of speed that Dana Evans, a Gary West Side grad who played at Louisville, provides the Aces has helped them close the gap. What once was a nine-point lead for the Fever was cut with an 8-0 run as Evans scored twice and assisted another bucket.

5:48 left 1Q: Aliyah Boston has held A’ja Wilson to 0-of-4 from the field. The four-time MVP is 36% from the field when guarded by Boston this season, 15% lower than her average this year. Boston also has four points.

Damiris Dantas did not travel with the team to Las Vegas. This will be her fourth straight missed game since suffering a concussion 10 days ago.

“She’s just not progressing as quickly as we hoped,” Steph White said. “We really didn’t want to put anything at risk with travel.”
