Chloe Dygert rides to ninth as the top American in the Elite Time Trials
The 2025 UCI Road World Championships opened in Kigali with the Women’s and Men’s Elite Time Trial races, starting at the BK Arena and finishing at the Kigali Convention Center.
Elite Women’s Time Trial
Two Americans lined up for the Women’s Time Trial this morning: Chloe Dygert (Brownsburg, Ind.; CANYON//SRAM Racing) and Ruth Edwards (Nederland, Colo.; Human Powered Health Cycling). Former World Champion Dygert launched fast out of the BK Arena on the 27 km course, opening in seventh at the first split. She slipped back mid-race but surged again in the closing kilometers, posting the fastest third split before finishing ninth overall with an average speed of 41 kph. Edwards rode a steady, consistent effort to secure 19th place, averaging 39 kph.

Elite Men’s Time Trial
Remco Evenepoel (BEL) claimed his third World Title in the Elite Men’s Time Trial, the only rider to break the 50-minute mark over the 41 km course. Will Barta (Boise, Idaho; Movistar Team) delivered a strong ride, averaging 43 kph. After the first split, he was in 18th place before settling into his rhythm and crossing the line in 24th.
