Taylor Fritz is glad not to be playing this ATP player at the Laver Cup in San Francisco.
Fritz beat Carlos Alcaraz for the first time to help a resurgent Team World on day two of the 2025 Laver Cup.
The American number one was able to adapt best to the conditions in San Francisco, while Alcaraz was left annoyed against Fritz.
Although Fritz appears to be comfortable on the Laver Cup courts, he has revealed that there is one player he would hate to be up against.

Fritz was part of one of four Team World wins on day two of the Laver Cup, as they now have a commanding lead heading into the final day of the competition.
Another one of those victors was Francisco Cerundolo, who Fritz has now admitted he would hate to play on the San Francisco courts.
When asked if head-to-head’s are as much of a factor at the Laver Cup, Fritz went on to speak about the conditions before mentioning Cerundolo.
“I definitely don’t think the head-to-heads go out the window on the team events,” Fritz said in his post-match press conference. “I mean, I think in this event a lot of times teams line up in a certain way. You match up how you want to match up. I would say those teams usually typically have the advantage.
“There’s definitely room for more weird things to happen, again, because I’ll say just the conditions of the court, it’s so slow. I would absolutely hate to play someone like Fran on this court. He generates so much pace off of a dead ball. He’s so good from the back. He returns so well. He is an absolute nightmare to play in conditions like this.
“Yeah, it definitely favors some people more than others, but just the team atmosphere definitely also brings out a lot of energy in a lot of people. I feel like I’ve always played great tennis at Laver Cup, Davis Cup, whatever team event, United Cup, whatever team event I play. It’s just fun to, you know, get pumped up with your team.”
Francisco Cerundolo’s impressive record in the Laver Cup
Cerundolo beat Holger Rune in straight sets in his first match at the Laver Cup this year, and it appears that it is not just the San Francisco conditions that he benefits from.
This is the Argentine’s third consecutive year representing Team World at the Laver Cup, and he has won all of his three matches in straight sets.
As a result, Cerundolo is the only player to have a 100% record in the Laver Cup after playing more than one match.

Cerundolo will now face his toughest test yet at the Laver Cup, as he has been selected to play Alcaraz on the final day.
This could be a potentially crucial match in the competition, with Team World needing two wins to secure Laver Cup victory.
