Evans tallied five points in Marist’s MAAC opener, a 5-2 home triumph over Quinnipiac on Saturday. He opened the scoring with a goal in the 10th minute and added his second in the 34th minute. His assist came on a goal in the 64th minute, which was the second the Red Foxes scored in a span of 2:22 as they broke open a 2-2 tie. Evans led all players in the match in shots (six), shots on goal (three), and goals (two). This season, Evans is tied for the team lead with three assists, and he is tied for second with seven points.

Iannello scored game-winning goal in both of Marist’s matches this past week. On Tuesday, he scored the lone goal of Marist’s 1-0 triumph over Lehigh in the 59th minute. Against Quinnipiac on Saturday, his goal in the 62nd minute broke a 2-2 tie and gave Marist the lead for good. It was the first of three unanswered goals the Red Foxes scored in the second half. Iannello also had an assist on Evans’ second goal of the first half in the 34th minute. For the week, Iannello finished with five points (two goals, one assist). This season, he is the Red Foxes’ leader in points (nine) while being tied for the team lead in both goals (three) and assists (three).

The weekly awards are the first for both Evans and Iannello in their careers, and they are the first awards earned by the Red Foxes this season.

With a pair of victories last week, Marist now stands at 5-0-2 overall and 1-0 in the MAAC. The Red Foxes received votes in last week’s United Soccer Coaches Poll.
