One of the key takeaways from the Detroit Lions’ dominant win over the Chicago Bears in Week 2 was their offense returning to its prolific form. Here is our Lions writer, Colton Pouncy, on what he saw from the offense.

💬: “In search of a bounce-back effort, the Lions were able to neutralize Chicago’s pass rush. Against the Bears, the Lions allowed a pressure rate of 12.8 percent, per TruMedia. That was the second-lowest pressure rate allowed through Sunday’s games. The Bears tried to avoid blitzing (10.3 percent blitz rate — fourth-lowest in Week 2) against a quarterback in Jared Goff who’s been excellent against it during his time in Detroit, but their defense couldn’t win with four. Chicago’s pressure rate on non-blitzes was just 15.4 percent, which was the second-lowest in Week 2.

“So this Bears defense wasn’t blitzing and wasn’t getting home with four. The Lions allowed just four pressures all day — tied for the fewest in Week 2. Credit their offensive line for holding up and bouncing back in a major way.”
