TIGER GIRLS TENNIS WRAPS UP BUSY WEEK
The Douglas High girls tennis team played a makeup match against Hug High on Sept. 15, winning 12-6.
On Thursday, the Tigers won 10-8 at Galena, as the doubles teams nearly swept their matches. The singles matches proved more intense, with several games going to multiple deuce points, coach Nike Andrews said.
Camryn Townsend, typically slotted as DHS’s No. 3 singles player, beat Galena’s No. 1, 7–5.
“I’m very proud of all my players,” Andrews said.
UP NEXT: Monday, the Tigers (4-3) resumed a rained-out match against Damonte Ranch. Tuesday they were at McQueen (2-6). The regular season ends Thursday at home against North Valleys (3-3) at 2 p.m.

TIGER VOLLEYBALL SPLITS WEEKEND SERIES
Douglas High volleyball went over the Sierra to take part in a two-match tournament in Sacramento last weekend.
The Tigers opened with a 2-1 win over San Marin – 24-26, 27-25, 15-11 – before falling to Liberty Ranch – 25-18, 25-13.
UP NEXT: Douglas (8-10, 0-2 in Class 5A North Sierra League play) traveled to Galena (2-9, 0-2) on Tuesday before visiting Carson (14-3, 2-1) on Thursday.
GALENA BOYS TENNIS DOWNS DOUGLAS
The Grizzlies’ boys tennis team overmatched Douglas on Thursday, 15-3.
Douglas got all three of its points on the singles court as Luc Tomassi grabbed a pair of sets – 6-3, 6-4 – while senior David Alexander won a set, 6-4.
UP NEXT: Douglas (1-7) hosted McQueen (6-3) on Tuesday before traveling to North Valleys (0-7) on Thursday.
