According to several experts, the Montreal Canadiens appear to have changed their mind regarding forward Kirby Dach‘s role.

It seems his time on the power play is over – at least for now – so he can focus on his 5-on-5 play.

Kirby Dach Reportedly Off the Power Play – At Least to Start the Season

Martin St-Louis will have plenty of options for both power play units, and names have already been identified by experts like Frank Seravalli and the site Daily Faceoff.

This would mark quite a shift for Kirby Dach, who was used on the first power play unit last season – but it’s probably for the best.

The 10 players currently projected to be on the Montreal Canadiens’ power play to start the season are:

In my opinion, the only player Dach could potentially replace is Newhook.

All the other players (the remaining nine) are very likely to be on the power play when the season begins.

The other debatable name is Gallagher, but in his role in front of the net, I believe he’s more useful than Dach on the second unit.

The only one who might displace Gallagher in that net-front role is possibly Josh Anderson – but not Dach.
