Toronto R&B singer Daniel Caesar announced that he’s doing a free tour, and says his first stop will be none other than his hometown.
The singer-songwriter shared limited details of a free pop-up tour in a TikTok video Wednesday night, teasing that it’s coming very soon in celebration of his upcoming album, Son Of Spergy.
Caesar says he won’t be revealing which cities are getting the surprise shows just yet, as he wants to “feel it out” once he arrives. But he made one thing clear: the 6ix will be the first stop in North America.
“We’re starting in Toronto, because that’s home,” he said in the video.
He urged Toronto fans to get ready, as location details could come as soon as Sept. 27.
Fans from all over have flooded Caesar’s comment section, hoping he’ll stop by their city. But Toronto fans are especially hyped after his confirmation that he’ll be heading home sooner rather than later, and some have already taken to social media to share their excitement.
“Here we go,” Toronto songwriter Mustafa the Poet said on Instagram.
“TORONTO WE UP LETS GO,” another fan enthusiastically commented.
Son of Spergy is Caesar’s fourth studio album and his first full project since 2023, following the release of recent singles “Call On Me” and “Have A Baby (With Me).”
In a video posted to Instagram, Caesar explains the meaning behind Spergy – a nickname for his father, who was once a singer in the Jamaican tourism industry before moving to Canada to work with 3ABN, a Christian television network. Caesar grew up in the church, with his father eventually becoming a pastor. He recalls how his dad used to warn him about the music industry, and how he often blending religious references and Gospel-inspired sounds into his work.
Son of Spergy is expected to drop on Oct. 24.
