Two NASCAR insiders seem to beleive that Ryan Blaney will continue to perform well in this year’s NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. On The Teardown podcast, Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic questioned if Blaney will win another race this season.

Gluck said that Blaney, who won the New Hampshire race this past weekend, has now earned three victories this year and has reached that mark in each of the last three seasons. He then asked Bianchi if Blaney will win another race this year.

“Yes, because I have him in Phoenix, and I think he probably wins Martinsville,” Bianchi said. Gluck also said that he thinks Blaney will win the Martinsville race, and Bianchi explained why he thinks Blaney will continue to have success.

“It’s interesting to watch the evolution of Ryan Blaney,” Bianchi said. “There wasn’t many years ago where it was like he’d win one race, and that would be it for his career, and you’re looking at it now. How many times did we talk about come the playoffs, where he would make a mistake, and it was like, man, what are you doing?”

NASCAR insider says Ryan Blaney ‘doesn’t make mistakes behind the wheel’

Bianchi mentioned the time when Blaney spun himself out at Kansas, and he has had “different issues throughout the years.” He then said that Blaney is “now the driver who come the playoffs, it’s like you expect him to raise his game. He did it last year, he did it the year before, obviously. It’s like now he doesn’t make mistakes behind the wheel.”

Blaney won the NASCAR Cup Series Championship in 2023 and finished second in the standings behind his Team Penske teammate Joey Logano last year. He has now clinched a spot in this year’s Round of 8 after winning the New Hampshire race.

“It’s huge,” Blaney said during his post-race press conference on Sunday. “Any time you can win in the playoffs, it’s just momentum. I’m a big believer in momentum and confidence. Not to say, I think all of us — you go into every weekend confident that you can do it. Your whole group is going in like heads held high, like we can do this.

“When you win in the playoffs, it’s just a little bit extra. It’s definitely not something to where like you don’t get to relax. That’s a big thing to me, like we’re not going to go relax for two weeks.”
