Retired Italian defender turned pundit, Paolo Ziliani, has warned that Juventus could face punishment by UEFA over a breach of Financial Fair Play regulations, after the Bianconeri post losses of €400 million over the last three years.

Speaking to his followers on X, Ziliani said the club’s losses “are heading towards €400 million over the three-year period, compared to the maximum allowed of €60 million.”

However, he was also critical over a lack of media attention, “Will there be a journalist who will hold them accountable? As always, no-one will.”

Ziliani continued, “The blatant violation of UEFA rules will be swept under the rug.”

The Italian did not stop there.

Ziliani continued to ask questions over how Juventus plan to recover in time to meet UEFA’s deadlines.

“The question that everyone in football should be asking is this,” he continued.

“How can Juventus hope to get through UEFA’s Financial Fair Play review next June,” he added.

“…When the rules only allow a maximum loss of €60 million over three years?”

“And if you were a journalist, would’t it come naturally to ask them how they think they’ll get away with such a blatant, undeniable violation of the regulations.”

There are varying levels of punishment a club can face for breaching UEFA’s rules.

In minor cases, such as what happened to Roma this summer, monetary sanctions or fines can be issued.

However, in more serious cases, UEFA have the power to withhold revenue from competitions.

In the most severe of situations, clubs can be given points deductions and reduced squad size.

Finally, UEFA can potentially even disqualify clubs from current and future competitions.
