Calgary police are asking the public for help identifying a suspect involved in a violent assault that occurred last month at a school soccer field in the city’s southeast.

The incident took place on Aug. 9 between 7:20 and 7:35 p.m., at a school near 8 Avenue and 52 Street SE.

According to investigators, the victim had just finished playing a soccer match when an unknown man approached him from behind and physically attacked him.

The victim was knocked unconscious and sustained facial injuries, requiring hospitalization.

Police say the victim and the suspect were not known to each other and had no prior interaction.

The suspect is described as a man between 25 and 35 years old, with a heavy build and dreadlocks. At the time of the assault, he was wearing red pants and a white T-shirt.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s identity to come forward. Tips can be provided by calling 403-266-1234 or submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
