Leonardo DiCaprio is quick to recall the special moment that he witnessed Paul McCartney enjoy at an Oasis concert that they both attended.
On Sept. 6, DiCaprio, McCartney, and a slew of other celebrities descended upon the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, Calif., to see Oasis perform their hotly anticipated Oasis Live ’25 Tour. Although they did not all arrive or sit together, Salma Hayek Pinault, Kristen Stewart, Stewart’s wife, Dylan Meyer, Taika Waititi, and Rita Ora were also in attendance.
Though the Rose Bowl was filled to the brim with A-listers that evening, everyone’s attention, including DiCaprio’s, was seemingly on McCartney, 83, who the actor said, in an interview with NME, was relishing in the praise both the band and the crowd were giving him.

“It was incredible,” DiCaprio, 50, shared of Oasis’ frontmen and brothers, Liam and Noel Gallagher. “It was incredible to see them back together again. And Paul McCartney was actually there, and I think they sang a Beatles song.
He added, “I remember I was in the section next to him, and the whole sort of stadium looked back at Paul and clapped for Paul too, which was awesome. It was a great tip of the hat. So, it was a special night.”

“It was a great tour. Everyone’s so excited about it. Really, much like Radiohead when that happens, too. I think everyone’s going to do their best to be there for those moments,” said The Great Gatsby star.
Though McCartney was seemingly gracious in his attendance, comparisons between Oasis and The Beatles have been rife over the years, some of which were even spearheaded by members of Oasis themselves. Footage of Noel from 2000 shows the rocker making claims that “we came that f—— close, man, you know, to being as big as The Beatles.”
However, TMZ posted footage of Noel in 2015, questioning him about the moment the band allegedly said in the late ’90s that they were bigger than The Beatles, to which he replied that he “might have been high when I said that.”
In 2016, McCartney made some comments about the “Wonderwall” creators comparing themselves to The Beatles, per a 2016 print interview with Q, republished by NME.

“Oasis were young, fresh and writing good tunes,” McCartney said at the time. “I thought the biggest mistake they made was when they said, ‘We’re going to be bigger than The Beatles’. I thought, ‘So many people have said that, and it’s the kiss of death.’ Be bigger than The Beatles, but don’t say it. The minute you say it, everything you do from then on is going to be looked at in the light of that statement.”

The Oasis Live ’25 Tour will continue to run through November 2025, making stops in North America, the United Kingdom, Asia, Australia and South America.
Prior to this run of shows, Oasis’ last tour, the Dig Out Your Soul Tour, came to an end on Aug. 22, 2009. Just a few days later, on Aug. 28, 2009, the group disbanded, citing tensions between Liam and Noel as the main cause.
The 2025 run of performances marks the first time the brothers have taken to the stage together under the Oasis moniker in over 15 years.
