A curious Calgarian took to Reddit to share that an entire model of the solar system appeared in downtown Calgary near the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Upon looking out of their window, Reddit user u/Fearless-Art-8364 noticed a mysterious art installation had popped up, seemingly out of the blue.
The post was captioned “A whole solar system just appeared in downtown Calgary,” followed by “Guys! Calgary is not a real place. Like, in less than a day, some super cool Calgarians just built an entire solar system out of nowhere!”

Others were just as shocked about the installation and were quick to respond with how cool it is to see the planets in downtown Calgary
“My astronomy heart is melting right now!” one user said. Another added, “Lights are always better at night, I dig the planets,” and “That is so cool.”
Some were curious about where exactly the planets popped up, with some users joking about the randomness of the installation. “Was it on accident or did someone have to planet?” one user joked. “I don’t think it’s to scale,” someone added.
People were even quick to suggest that installations like this should be permanent: “This is what a permanent art installation should be,” someone said. Someone even threw shade at the infamous blue ring, “Amazing! Why can’t we have this, an educational wonder as art, instead of the Blue Ring…”
Curious locals pinpointed the solar system as part of the Victoria Park Night Light Festival, which is happening from Sept. 25 to 27, 2025. The festival features a series of illuminated installations across various locations in Victoria Park. This particular installation is located at Pixel Park.
