We are entering into the business end of tournaments, as some of the world’s best players start to face off in Beijing and Tokyo. Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner and Iga Swiatek are a few of the heavyweight names in action.

08:18 CET – Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk had little issue booking her spot in the Beijing last 16, with the 23rd seed seeing off Aliaksandra Sasnovich 6-4, 6-2 in a little under an hour and 30 minutes.

07:45 CET – Good morning and welcome back to the Tennis Tracker at the start of a new week!

We will look ahead to the day’s play in a second, but let’s just catch you up on some of the results of the morning so far, as Russian starlet Mirra Andreeva claimed a comfortable 6-4, 6-1 win over Jessica Bouzas Maneiro.

Emma Navarro and Alex De Minaur also progressed after their opponents, Lois Boisson and Jakub Mensis, unfortunately retired from their respective clashes with injury.

Right now, Marta Kostyuk is on court in the Chinese capital, before breakout star Maya Joint and six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek look to book their spots in the last 16.

A little later on, home favourite Qinwen Zheng plays her second match since returning from a surgery that kept her out of tennis since Wimbledon, while the standout clash of the day sees fifth seed Jessica Pegula come up against former US Open champion Emma Raducanu.

Over on the men’s side of the tournament, former champion Jannik Sinner and fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti continue their quests for the title.

Meanwhile, in a few hours, second seed Alexander Zverev will go head-to-head with Daniil Medvedev in a really intriguing contest.

Finally, moving to Tokyo, it is already semi-final time, as world number one Carlos Alcaraz – who is playing some otherworldly tennis at the moment – meets Casper Ruud. But up first is an all-American affair between Taylor Fritz and Jenson Brooksby.
