It isn’t a Modern Family reunion without Eric Stonestreet — at least, it shouldn’t be.

The actor who played the lovably histrionic Cameron Tucker on the ABC sitcom playfully flipped out over his onscreen husband, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, posting a picture from a series mini-reunion on Monday. Ferguson laughed arm and arm with Julie Bowen, who played his character’s sister, and Ed O’Neill, who played their father, in the photo shared to Instagram with the caption, “The Pritchetts Sept 27 2025.”

“Where is Sofia? Where is Ty? Did he die again!?” Stonestreet began his faux-panicked comment, referencing an infamous bit of fan frenzy, in which Modern Family acolytes presumed that the only reason star Ty Burrell wouldn’t have shown up to a full-cast 2023 reunion is that he had died (he was having surgery).

“Where is [Ariel Winter]? Sarah! Rico!? Nolan!?! Aubrey?!” Stonestreet continued, calling out missing cast members and sending up what he perceives as an almost conspiratorial view of cast reunions. “Is there drama behind the scenes? Are you all fighting!? Do you hate each other now? Wait. Where am I!? Why am I not there!? Did I snub you!? Did you snub me!?”

Finally, Stonestreet joked, “There MUST be SOMETHING going on!”

O’Neill, Bowen, and Ferguson played the core of the titular extended family that comprised the cast of the series, which ran from 2009-2020.

The Pritchetts’ marriages pull in some of Modern Family’s most loved characters, from Sofia Vergara’s fiery Gloria Delgado, to Sarah Hyland’s moody Haley Dunphy. But Ferguson, Bowen, and O’Neill chose to honor the trio that started it all.

The Modern Family cast has indeed reunited in various permutations over the years — none of them inflaming fan paranoia as much as 2023’s reunion-sans-Burrell.

Just last year, Stonestreet, Burrell, Bowen, and Ferguson joined forces for a commercial that satirized the fear of being left out. Ferguson’s Mitchell Pritchett is devastated to learn that Burrell’s Phil Dunphy, Bowen’s Claire Dunphy, and Stonestreet’s Cam created a group chat without him, due to what Claire describes as the “blurry photos” and “weird likes” that he sends. But all resolves in that typically heartwarming Modern Family way, when Cam privately assures Mitchell that he may have been left out of a chat, but he’ll never be left out of the heart of the family.
