One of Vancouver’s most highly anticipated concerts of the year has officially been cancelled.
Rising pop star Lola Young announced on Tuesday on Instagram that she would not be able to embark on her upcoming headline North American tour as she was “going away for a while.”
“It pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future,” said Young on social media.
“Thank you for all the love and support. I’m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me; it hurts me more than you know.”
Young’s tour was supposed to kick off in Toronto on Saturday, Nov. 1, with Vancouver set to welcome the 24-year-old British singer at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre on Monday, Dec. 1.
While the news is disappointing, fans shared messages of support and understanding for Young on her Instagram post.
It was only a few days prior that she collapsed onstage at New York’s All Things Go Festival while performing her song, “Conceited” from her album, This Wasn’t Meant for You Anyway.
Young received treatment, and fellow All Things Go performer Remi Wolf confirmed to the audience that she was doing okay.

“You’ve been going so hard so fast. It’s bound to take a toll. Happy to see you take care of yourself,” said one fan on Instagram.
“You take all the time you need,” added another commenter. “You don’t owe anyone anything, even an explanation. Your life and your health are yours alone. You only owe yourself rest, love, and understanding. Proud of you.”
Young promised her followers that she would be back onstage in the future.
“I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I have had some time to work on myself and come back stronger,” she said.
Ticketmaster announced on the concert ticket page that refunds will be issued to the original method of payment used at the time of purchase, as soon as the event organizer sends the funds. Once that happens, refunds should appear in concert-goers’ accounts within 14 to 21 days.
