Throughout his career, Kyrie Irving has had the chance to share the floor with numerous superstar talents. However, based on some recent comments, it’s clear who sits in the top spot when it comes to his all-time teammates.

While streaming on Twitch earlier this week, Irving opened up about his tenure with the Brooklyn Nets. When it comes to his partnership with Kevin Durant, he feels it is a duo that can never be recreated.

“I will say this,” Irving said. “The 7/11 duo of me and KD can never be topped. In terms of just being on the court with somebody that special. Let me get that disclaimer out. I played with a lot of great players, but playing with KD, that was OD. He’s one of the best of all time.”

There’s no denying that Durant is one of the game’s top talents, but Irving has had more notable running mates. The most notable being LeBron James, with whom he played alongside on the Cleveland Cavaliers. This duo competed at a high level for years and even captured a championship in 2016.

From a skill standpoint, Irving and Durant are arguably just as good a duo. That said, they didn’t have nearly the same level of success as he and LeBron did in Cleveland. When they joined forces in Brooklyn in 2019, some felt they had the potential to be a dynasty. Unfortunately for them, injuries and off-court drama have resulted in them being one of the biggest “what-ifs” in NBA history.

Upon recovering from the ACL tear he suffered last season, the Mavericks star will embark on a journey with his newest star teammate in Anthony Davis.
