The Pittsburgh Penguins placed veteran forward Danton Heinen on waivers Thursday as the team trims its roster ahead of the regular season.

Heinen, 30, is signed through this season at a cap hit of $2.25 million. He had three goals and 11 points in 28 games with the Penguins last season after being acquired from the Vancouver Canucks. He had six goals and 18 points in 51 games with Vancouver prior to the deal.

A fourth-round pick of the Boston Bruins in 2014, Heinen has 96 goals and 241 points in 566 career games with the Bruins, Anaheim Ducks, Penguins and Canucks.

The Penguins also placed defencemen Sebastian Aho and Philip Kemp on waivers, along with fellow forwards Valtteri Puustinen and Joona Koppanen and goaltender Filip Larsson.

Canucks waive Kravtsov

The Canucks placed forward Vitali Kravtsov on waivers Thursday as he makes his return to North American hockey after two years in the KHL.

The 25-year-old winger had 27 goals and 58 points in 66 games with Traktor Chelyabinsk last season. He last played with the Canucks in 2022-23, coming over in a trade from the New York Rangers. He had four goals and eight points in 44 games between the two teams.

The Vladivostok, Russia native was selected ninth overall by the Rangers in the 2018 draft.

General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Vitali Kravtsov has been placed on waivers, and F Joseph LaBate has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL).

Flames waive Prosvetov

Goaltender Ivan Prosvetov was among three players placed on waivers by the Flames Thursday.

He was joined by defenceman Ilya Solovyov, and forward Rory Kerins.

Prosvetov had a 20-16-2 record in the KHL last season with CSKA Moscow, posting a .920 save percentage and a 2.32 goals-against average.
