Zoho launches Ulaa browser, a privacy-first Chrome and Safari rival with ad blockers, multiple modes, and AI integration.
Homegrown software giant Zoho is on an aggressive expansion streak with its line of India-made applications that are taking on global tech majors. After the success of its messaging app Arattai, which surged to the top of both the Apple App Store and Google Play charts, the company is now making waves with its latest launch—the Ulaa browser.
From Arattai to Ulaa: A New Challenger Emerges
While Arattai positioned itself as a strong alternative to WhatsApp for Indian users, the newly launched Ulaa browser is taking the fight directly to global web browsers like Google Chrome and Apple Safari. The app has quickly climbed the App Store rankings and is now available across all major platforms, including Android, iOS, Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Privacy at the Core
Built on Chromium, the same open-source foundation that powers Chrome, Ulaa sets itself apart by placing privacy at its core. Unlike Google, which collects user data to personalise advertising, Zoho emphasises that Ulaa does not store, collect, or sell any personal information. According to Zoho, “Ulaa provides state-of-the-art features that ensure your personal information remains confidential and your digital footprint hidden from advertisers.”
Features That Redefine Browsing
Ulaa comes packed with built-in ad blockers and tracker protection to ensure a cleaner, safer browsing experience. It also offers multiple profile modes tailored for different users:
Work Mode for enterprise users
Personal Mode for everyday browsing
Kids Mode for child-safe usage
Developer Mode for web professionals
Open Season Mode for unrestricted use

Recognised by the Government
The innovation behind Ulaa has already been recognised at the national level. The browser won the Indian Web Browser Development Challenge, an initiative by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to create an indigenous alternative to global web browsers.
Deep Integration With Zoho Ecosystem
Ulaa also benefits from Zoho’s extensive ecosystem. The browser integrates seamlessly with Zoho’s Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication system, enabling users to access multiple Zoho applications without repeated logins. Additionally, its modes are integrated with Zia, Zoho’s AI-powered unified search system, making navigation across apps smoother and more intelligent.
A Made-in-India Browser With Global Ambitions
With Ulaa, Zoho is positioning itself as not just a competitor but a serious global alternative to Chrome and Safari, while also championing the “Made in India” narrative. By combining privacy-first features, advanced integrations, and multi-mode browsing, Zoho is aiming to redefine how users experience the internet.
