Bongo Cat Developer Changes Controversial Update After Player Feedback Promptly

Bongo Cat is a free-to-play idler title where players get to see a kitty banging away with every click and tap, accruing points that they can trade for new cosmetics every few minutes. The game has received nearly 11,000 reviews and a 97% Overwhelminigly Positive score on Steam since its release on the 5th of March.

Developed by Marcel Zurawka, Julius Krüger and published by Irox Games, it has received constant love and support from the developer, who even went out of their way to add the ability to see friends’ cats via multiplayer mode.

On the 1st of October, the Emoji Update dropped, which added 100 new collectibles to the pool that can be used while with friends to communicate. The Steam post received a few over 200 comments, some expressing concern that this would dilute the pool and make it difficult to acquire the rare cosmetics.

Barely 24 hours later, the developer posted a message apologising to the community for the oversight and immediately correcting it by removing the emojis from the pool.

There will be two chests, one that contains the skins and hats, and another that will give the emojis, which can be earned while playing with others in multiplayer.

The update is set to roll out sometime on Monday to avoid pushing out any rushed updates and causing issues during the weekend. At the end, the developer notes once again that they appreciate the feedback and concerns, and apologising for the oversight!
