The NHL announced on Monday that the team has been fined $100,000, head coach Jon Cooper has been fined $25,000, and Scott Sabourin and J.J. Moser have both been suspended.

The pair of players underwent hearings on Monday, and Sabourin was suspended for four games for roughing Panthers defenceman Aaron Ekblad, while Moser was banned for two contests for boarding Jesper Boqvist, the NHL’s player safety department announced.

Sabourin’s incident happened only minutes into the game, with the Lightning enforcer going for a blindside hit on Ekblad, then throwing punches at the Panthers defenceman. Ekblad went back to the team’s locker room after the play and did not return.

The league described Sabourin’s actions as “delivering an ungloved sucker punch.”

Moser, meanwhile, put Boqvist into the boards head-first at the 14-minute mark in the first and was immediately ejected. The Panthers centre was not injured on the play.

They were two of four Lightning players tossed from the game, along with centres Carter Schmidt and Gage Goncalves.

In total, the contest between state rivals saw 300 penalty minutes.
