After an incredible clay court season, it hasn’t been the most consistent of results for Lorenzo Musetti. The Italian has struggled for regular fitness and form but has always turned up in the big tournaments to maintain a high position in the rankings. A strong end to the season will do Musetti the world of good as he is aiming to be back on home soil in order to compete at the Nitto ATP Finals in Turin which would be a reward for such an incredible season.

Standing in Musetti’s way is another player who believes he deserves a place at the ATP Finals in the form of Felix Auger-Aliassime. The Canadian has had an inconsistent season as a fantastic start to the year was followed up by an average last couple of months before Auger-Aliassime reached his second Grand Slam semi-final of his career at the US Open. Now Auger-Aliassime has momentum on his side as he looks to surge into the final stages of the season with confidence on his side as he bids for a place in Turin.

Musetti will aim to be aggressive on the return as he will use the backhand to force Auger-Aliassime into uncomfortable defensive positions. Meanwhile, Auger-Aliassime will look to be aggressive on serve and will use the forehand to put pressure on Musetti’s baseline game. This should be a tight contest but Musetti may just have too much consistency for the Canadian in what is a must win match for both players in their mission to make Turin.

Prediction: Musetti in three sets.

It’s been a resurgent run of form from Daniil Medvedev since the US Open as he is aiming to rectify what has been an underwhelming year. A change of coaching team and a more positive and proactive attitude has seen the former US Open champion play with freedom and accuracy. Although a place in the ATP Finals may be out of sight, Medvedev will be hoping to build some momentum towards next season and a deep run at Masters 1000 could give him the confidence needed to start gaining some consistent form in 2026.

Next up for Medvedev is a Beijing rematch with Learner Tien after Medvedev was forced to retire from their clash due to cramps last week. That result saw Tien in the final and has summarised what has been an incredible season for the American who is into the last 16 of Shanghai after defeating Cameron Norrie. Now the American aims to capitalise on his confidence as he targets a maiden Masters 1000 quarter-final.

Medvedev will use the forehand to try and exploit Tien’s weaknesses as he looks to be more aggressive in this contest. Meanwhile, Tien will aim to be aggressive on serve and use the backhand to keep Medvedev moving. This will be a physical contest with Tien expected to have too much variety for Medvedev.

Prediction: Tien in three sets.

It was an impressive win for Jiri Lehecka as he comfortably defeated Denis Shapovalov to reach the fourth round in Shanghai. The Czech Republican has been aggressive and proactive on serve, while using the forehand to pin opponents behind the baseline. Now, Lehecka will aim to do the same as a golden opportunity awaits with a place in the quarter-finals on the line.

The next step for Lehecka is to try and outmanoeuvre in-form Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech. The Frenchman once again defeated Alexander Zverev with an impressive three set victory as he continues to play aggressive yet consistent tennis. Rinderknech is breaking new ground and will hope to continue doing that by reaching his first Masters 1000 quarter-final.

Lehecka will be hoping to find angles in order to force Rinderknech in wide positions, exposing space on the court. Meanwhile, Rinderknech will aim to dictate the pace of the rallies on his terms by serving aggressively. This should be a tight contest but Lehecka’s may have too much consistent quality for Rinderknech.

Prediction: Lehecka in three sets.
