Week 7 of the CFL season further illustrated one fact: Vernon Adams and the Stampeders are for real. For the second time in July, Calgary stomped the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Now the No. 1 team in the Canadian Football League takes on Montreal in a must-see Thursday night game. Montreal, however, will be without stud QB Davis Alexander (hamstring) for the foreseeable future.

If the Stampeders falter against last year’s East Division regular-season champs, Saskatchewan could take control of the West with a win over the lowly Elks. The Roughriders wield the same record as Calgary (5-1), with no other team in the West holding more than three wins.

The defending-champion Argonauts host the Blue Bombers on Saturday, in a rematch of the 2024 Grey Cup. Toronto has endured a brutal championship hangover, sitting at just 1-5 thanks to injuries, inconsistency and downright bad luck. The Bombers, however, could be without injured starting QB Zach Collaros (head/upper body).

On Sunday, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (4-2) visit the BC Lions (3-4) in an intriguing matchup. Hamilton will likely retain the top spot in the East with a win and/or a Montreal loss to Calgary.
