Kevin Durant said he would welcome the opportunity to team up with Russell Westbrook.

The Houston Rockets star said Westbrook “deserves” to be in the league and said it would be “dope” if they could play together in Houston.

“I have no clue, I haven’t asked anybody about (a reunion). It hasn’t been brought to my desk at all, and usually when stuff like that happens, it’s usually pretty loud,” Durant said on FanDuel’s “Up & Adams Show” with Kay Adams. “But I haven’t really heard it outside of fans on the internet.

“Russ is a legend, and I think he deserves to be in the NBA right now, and I think he deserves to walk out of the NBA on his terms, so yeah, that would be dope. But it’s not my decision, I’m leaving that up to whoever makes those decisions for now.”

one of the biggest acquisitions of the summer, the Rockets acquired Durant in a blockbuster trade to the Houston Rockets in exchange for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, the No. 10 pick in the draft, and five second-round picks.

During Media Day, Durant shared that he looks forward to being a Rocket and signing a contract extension.

“I do see myself signing a contract extension,” Durant said. “I can’t tell you exactly when it’ll happen. But I do see it happening.”

He also praised the Rockets organization for building a contender in a short amount of time.

“Just seeing the quick progression of this franchise, from where it was right after that Chris Paul-James Harden era to seeing what (Rockets coach) Ime (Udoka) got here and how he turned it around so fast,” Durant said. “It just felt organic and natural coming into the gym and being a Houston Rocket for the first time.”

Last season, Westbrook was a key reserve for the Denver Nuggets, playing 75 games and making 36 starts last season. He averaged 13.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds in 27 minutes. He declined his player option at the end of the season to become an unrestricted free agent and hasn’t been signed to a new team.
