At OFRA, we are dedicated to providing the highest quality of care for our residents and we are looking for a dynamic and driven Environmental Services Supervisor to join our team.
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, the Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that laundry and housekeeping services are provided to all residents of The Ontario Finnish Resthome Association (OFRA). The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible to be the primary liaison with residents with respect to environmental service issues. Works collaboratively with members of the OFRA Management Team in order to meet the mission and objectives of OFRA.
Qualifications
• Post-secondary education in property, hospitality and/or environmental services. Certified Fire Safety and Occupational Health and Safety.
• Minimum of three years supervision and/or lead hand experience. Demonstrated knowledge and skills in leadership and team building.
• Demonstrated knowledge of institutional infection control standards relating to housekeeping and laundry.
• Knowledge of various legislative requirements/standards pertaining to residential accommodations (e.g., Canadian Mortgage and Housing standards, Landlord and Tenants’ Act, Ministry of Health Long-Term Care standards, LTCH Act 2007 and associated regulations and MOHLTC PICB compliance standards, etc.).
• Familiar with OH&S Act, safe practices, WHMIS, etc.; Workplace safety basic certification
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to communicate in the Finnish and/or Estonian language is an asset.
Responsibilities
• Act as a daily point of contact for departmental staff and other OFRA departments for Housekeeping and Laundry needs.
• Assess operational needs create schedules for ESS Staff and adjust staffing or reassign work areas as needed.
• Assist in staff onboarding, training, and ensuring adherence to safety procedures and best practices.
• Collaborate and maintain positive working relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
• Manage performance of staff including coaching, feedback, and disciplinary actions in line with policy and collective agreements.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices (IPAC) and implement service improvements accordingly.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at workflow efficiency and service quality.
• Ensure all work meets established quality and IPAC standards; includes conducting housekeeping and laundry audits on a 24/7 schedule.
• Update and maintain the Hector software system to integrate an effective work order system for tracking and prioritizing maintenance and service requests.
• Work closely with Purchasing to track and maintain inventory management, including stock control, and documentation of maintenance and cleaning supplies. Supervise shipping and receiving activities.
• Support the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) and Human Resources in addressing workplace health and safety concerns, conducting audits, developing policies, procedures and training for all OFRA staff and implementing best practices.
• Maintain department operations within budget parameters through effective scheduling, hiring, and corrective action decisions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
