Winnipeg Blue Bombers star receiver Nic Demski has been ruled out of the game on Saturday night against the Edmonton Elks with an apparent leg injury.
The team announced Demski, Winnipeg’s leading receiver on the season, would not return after he exited in the first half.
Demski – who brought in one of three targets for five yards before exiting – was targeted on a deep pass late in the second quarter from Zach Collaros. The ball was underthrown and picked off by JJ Ross, and Demski came up limping without being touched as the pass came in.
Demski, a 10-year veteran of the CFL and playing in his seventh season with the Blue Bombers, leads the team in receptions (67), receiving yards (1,001) and receiving touchdowns (7).
The Blue Bombers are in the midst of a tight race for the second seed in the West Division.
