Katy Perry is giving fellow pop star Taylor Swift her flowers amid the release of her latest album, Life of a Showgirl.
On Friday, October 10 — exactly one week after Swift, 35, released her 12 studio album to much fanfare — the “I Kissed a Girl” singer shared one of the singer’s new tracks, “Eldest Daughter,” to her Instagram Stories.
While the two have had their fair share of relationship ups and downs — which seemingly fueled a years-long rift while reportedly inspiring Swift’s “Bad Blood” and Perry’s “Swish Swish” — the singers have been supportive of one another in their respective careers. After burying the hatched, Swift featured Perry, 40, in the music video for her song “You Need to Calm Down.”
Perry went on to attend Swift’s history-making Eras Tour in March 2024, later sharing a series of photos and videos from the concert — including a backstage selfie with Swift — via Instagram.
“Got to see an old friend shine tonight,” Perry captioned the post.

“Gossip in life can take the elevator but the truth takes the stairs,” Perry said of her decision to make peace with Swift during a July 2020 appearance on the Howard Stern Show. “It just takes time.”
She continued, “What I’m grateful for is we did get to make up publicly and got to be an example of redemptions for young girls. I always wanted the best for her and now we can talk about the best we want for each other.”
Swift has been on a whirlwind promotion tour since the release of her album and in the wake of her recent engagement to Kansas City Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce. While discussing her new work, Swift has been opening up about her personal relationship to Kelce, 36, and how he inspired some of Life of a Showgirl’s tracks.

“I had learned that it’s actually a man-made opal,” Swift said on Friday, October 3, of her song “Opalite” — her fiancé’s favorite on the new album that, to the surprise of no one, is inspired by the football player.
“Opal can be man-made just like diamonds, and so, Travis’ birthstone is an opal. I’ve always fixated on that, [and] I’ve always loved that stone. I thought it was kind of a cool metaphor that, like, it’s a man-made opal and happiness can also be man-made, too. That’s what the song is about, the juxtaposition of those two.”

Swift has also been opening up about her recent engagement to Kelce, sharing everything from how the tight end pulled it off to their future wedding plans.
“He really crushed it, in surprising me,” Swift said of Kelce’s proposal while appearing on The Graham Norton Show. “While we were talking on his podcast, he had a complete garden built out the back of his house to propose in. He went all out — 10 out of 10.”
Swift was also clear that while she’s thrilled to be engaged, she is maintaining her focus on her career and album — for now.
“I want to do the album stuff first, and the wedding is what happens after in terms of planning,” Swift explained to Norton. The singer later revealed during her sit-down interview with BBC Radio 1 that she is planning a “destination wedding,” but didn’t dish on any potential location.
