The New York Knicks had Donte DiVincenzo just a year and a half ago, before being traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the Karl-Anthony Towns deal.

While DiVincenzo is an excellent three-point shooter and a player the Knicks would love to have back, trading for Towns made perfect sense. The Knicks needed to shake things up, and did exactly that in the deal by moving Julius Randle as well.

However, according to a recent report from ClutchPoints’ Kris Pursiainen, the Knicks had thoughts about a potential reunion with DiVincenzo last year. They noted that around New Year’s, the Knicks were thinking about bringing DiVincenzo back in an upcoming trade during this offseason.

“Had heard around New Year’s that the Knicks had had internal discussions about a potential reunion with Donte DiVincenzo in this upcoming offseason but aside from things changing, as they tend to do, Jeremy makes a good case here for why you can consider that unlikely,” Pursiainen posted on X.

The Timberwolves have been looking to get better as a team, so DiVincenzo likely isn’t available unless the Knicks would send back a player that the Timberwolves would love. Even then, it’s tough to find a perfect trade partner.

Perhaps this could be a telling sign of what’s to come eventually, however, as DiVincenzo is loved by many of the current players on the Knicks due to the Villanova connection.

During the 2024-25 campaign, he averaged 11.7 points and shot 39.7% from 3-point range on high volume.
