MMA Main Card Pick of the Week: UFC Vancouver
UFC Fight Night: de Ridder vs Allen (aka UFC Vancouver)
Main Card Start Time: 7:00 PM EST – (ESPN+)
On a fight card packed with my fellow Canadians, my play is from a fight between American fighter Cody Gibson and Chinese fighter Aoriqileng. And I’m going with the American, Gibson.
‘The Renegade’ is only 3-6 in the UFC, but he’s won two of three, only getting tapped out by Da’Mon Blackshear in his last fight, which is a quality loss. Aoriqileng, meanwhile, has been slumping, going 1-2 (1) over his last four, and hasn’t won a fight in over two years.
Gibson should be better on the feet, but more importantly, he’s a much better grappler and should dominate his Chinese opponent on the mat on his way to victory.
