A group of five youths have been arrested after a man was robbed at gunpoint in Oshawa last month.

Durham Regional Police said they were called to the area of William Lott Drive and Greenhill Avenue on Sept. 5, for reports of an armed person.

According to police, the victim was riding his bicycle at the time when a group of youths approached him. The group allegedly assaulted him, during which one of the suspects pointed a firearm at him before stealing some of his belongings and fleeing the scene.

Police did not say if the victim sustained any physical injuries.

About a month later, on Oct. 8, police say they arrested all five suspects involved: a 12-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy, a 13-year-old girl, and two 15-year-old boys.

The group of youths from Oshawa are facing charges for robbery and possessing weapons dangerous to public peace. The charges have not been tested in court.

They cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
