The Revolution is here
NXT Champion Ricky Saints says when things get tough, Trick Williams is going to fold under pressure. When Saints won the championship, everything became clear to him. Nothing is clear to Williams. Williams is delusional, crazy, and stupid. Saints wants Williams to prove him wrong, so instead of waiting, Saints is calling Williams out for a match at Halloween Havoc for the championship.
Williams appears on the ‘Tron and says Saints is just trying to follow in Williams’ footsteps. Saints have been grinding their whole life to get to this spot, but Williams ain’t waiting in no line. Saints is jealous Williams didn’t have to grind. Williams says if Saints want Williams to be a three-time champ, sure, but it will be on Williams’ time.
Grade: C
As much as this writer loves Ricky Saints and Trick Williams, this wasn’t good. Both rambled their way through their diatribes with little to no crowd reaction. None of the snaps worked, and the Saints seemed to be winging it more than normal. Odd stuff. This just didn’t work.

Birggs brings Cardona into the ring with a backbreaker. Cardona manages to kick out at 2.9. Briggs is livid. Briggs tries to use his chain. The referee snatches it away. Briggs walks into Radio Silence by Cardona! Briggs kicks out! Cardona dives off the top and gets powerbombed. After a series of counters, Briggs lands a running big boot for the win.
Winner- Josh Briggs
Grade: C+
Solid TV match, but nothing earth-shattering here. It was fun seeing Cardona back in a WWE ring. Thanks god, because this will hopefully mean Cardona will shut up about it.
AAA Latin American Champion Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. vs. Lexis King
Dr. Wagner Jr. is in control early, landing a flurry of strikes and walking on King’s just because. King does a rope walk slap. Dr. Wagner Jr. sends King flying with a rana, followed by a backbreaker. Dr. Wagner Jr. hits the slowest triangle moonsault to the floor.
After the break, King sends Dr. Wagner Jr. out to the floor. King pushes Dr. Wagner Jr. into the ring steps. After an apron knee breaker by King, Dr. Wagner Jr. clutches at his knee. King works over Dr. Wagner Jr.’s injured leg. King misses a senton off the top. Dr. Wagner Jr. blasts King with a shining wizard. Michinoku Driver by Dr. Wagner Jr. for the win.
Winner- Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr.
After the match, Dr. Wagner Jr. calls out NXT North American Champion Ethan Page. Page announces they will face each other at Halloween Havoc for the North American Championship. Dr. Wagner Jr. tells Page that he already spoke to NXT GM Ava, and their match will be a Day of the Dead Match; anything goes.
Grade: C+
More just ok stuff here. King and Dr. Wagner Jr. both seemed to be moving at half speed. Weird stuff. Also, why is the Page/Dr. Wagner Jr. a thing? Who asked for this? Both men have championships. Aren’t they better served feuding with others? Why is their match no-holds-barred? When did this turn into a blood feud?
Zaria vs. Blake Monroe
Zaria is in control early. Monroe goes low and takes out Zaria’s knee. Zaria goes up top. Monroe cuts Zaria off and tries a head scissor takeover. Zaria puts on the brakes and locks Monroe in a hanging choke. Monroe blocks a deadlift suplex attempt and slams Zaria’s head into the turnbuckle. After the break, Zaria fights her way out of a sleeper hold by Monroe.
Zaria fires up and cuts Monroe in half with a spear. Zaria set up her finish. Monroe escapes. Monroe pulls a chair from under the ring. NXT Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca runs down to ringside and snatches the chair from Monroe. In the confusion, Monroe stabs Zaria in the neck with a hair clip before hitting her double arm DDT for the win.
Winner- Blake Monroe
Grade: B-
So far, this is the match of the night, but that isn’t saying much. This one needed more time to develop. One thing to note is Monroe’s use of the hair clip to win this. That was different, but given it’s a sharp implement, a little bit of blood would have gone a long way, and intensified Ruca’s issue with Monroe… that will most likely end with Zaria costing Ruca the North American Championship.
The Culling vs. Chase u vs. Hank and Tank
This one starts fast with everyone landing big moves. Hank and Tank sandwich Spears outside the ring. Chase u lands stereo dives. OTM hits the ring and lays everyone out.
No Contest
Grade: C+
This one was going well until OTM took everyone out. Not sure why they couldn’t just be put in the match and win it. So far, this writer can’t get jiggy with this episode of NXT. This was the only match so far tonight that woke the crowd up at all. To have it end in a screwy finish was a choice.
Women’s Championship Number One Contender’s Battle Royal
This match features TNA, NXT, and Evolve talent. The final four are Jordynne Grace, Tatum Paxley, Izzy Dame, and Kendal Grey. Grey runs into a facebuster by Grace. Grace lays out everyone in the ring. After a distraction from Paxley, Dame floors Gacre with a big boot. Grey fives off the top and gets caught by Dame. Dame sets up her finish.
Grey counters with a DDT. Grey sends Dame flying with a belly-to-belly. Dame tosses out Grey. Paxley is on the apron, holding Grace in place for Dame to eliminate her. Dame tries a clothesline and goes over the top with Grace. Paxley holds onto the rope as Grace and Dame fall to the floor.
Winner- Tatum Paxley
After the match, Dame stews outside the ring. Lyra Valkyria runs down to the ring to celebrate with Paxley.
Grade: B-
This one was paced well and breezed by. The match had a few big moments, and a semi-surprise finish (they telegraphed this one with Dame’s comments earlier in the night and clearly through the Zaria thing to throw us off the scent). Paxley winning is a more interesting choice than most, so let’s see how this plays out. Will Dame predictably cost Paxley the championship?
WWE NXT Review:
Tonight’s show moved at a glacial pace, with most of the matches and angles falling flat. Coming off the NXT Showdown event, you would think there would have been more meaningful action or, at the very least, hotly contested matches. It’s unclear which direction NXT will be heading as a brand, but they will need to put a bit more effort into keeping their fans engaged if they want to keep their fans in the arena and at home, tuning in.
