Kevin Federline is releasing a memoir next week, and per an excerpt obtained by the New York Times, he has made a few claims about his ex-wife, Britney Spears.

For context, Britney and Kevin finalized their divorce in 2007 following three years of marriage. They then became embroiled in a messy battle over custody of their sons, Jayden James and Sean Preston (now 19 and 20), and Kevin was ultimately granted sole custody in 2008, when Britney was placed under a tight conservatorship.

The conservatorship remained in effect until November 2021.
In 2023, Kevin and the boys relocated to Hawaii — a move that sparked controversy online as fans speculated that he was attempting to continue receiving payments from Britney, given that the law requires child support to be paid until children turn 23, provided they’re enrolled in full-time education.Since Kevin was granted sole custody of the kids, Britney provided him with a monthly child support payment of $20,000 for each of the boys, while also covering their clothing, school, and insurance expenses. Notably, Kevin faced backlash in 2018 when he requested more money from the singer.

Months before Kevin upped and moved to Hawaii, he was questioned by paparazzi on the rumor that he was trying to benefit from the state’s child support laws. He replied, “A lot of people say a lot of stupid things.”
Kevin also remained silent when asked if he’d “allow” Britney to see their sons before he moved.
Fast-forward to today, and Kevin is purportedly speaking out about Britney in his forthcoming memoir, titled You Thought You Knew. Per the NYT, he claims that when his sons lived with the pop star, they’d sometimes wake up at night to her “standing silently in the doorway” of their room with a knife in her hand.

“They would awaken sometimes at night to find her standing silently in the doorway, watching them sleep — ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ — with a knife in her hand,” he claims. “Then she’d turn around and pad off without explanation.”

Kevin later reportedly writes, “The truth is, this situation with Britney feels like it’s racing toward something irreversible…It’s become impossible to pretend everything’s OK. From where I sit, the clock is ticking, and we’re getting close to the 11th hour. Something bad is going to happen if things don’t change, and my biggest fear is that our sons will be left holding the pieces.”

“I’ve been their buffer for years, but now it’s bigger than me. It’s time to sound the alarm,” he adds, also telling the NYT that he and Britney “haven’t spoken in years.”
Britney’s rep has since addressed Kevin’s claims. In a statement shared with E! News, they said, “With news from Kevin’s book breaking, once again he and others are profiting off her, and sadly it comes after child support has ended with Kevin…All she cares about are her kids, Sean Preston and Jayden James and their well-being during this sensationalism. She detailed her journey in her memoir.”

In Britney’s 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, she claimed that Kevin kept her from seeing her sons for weeks and “tried to convince everyone” that she was “completely out of control” amid their custody battle.
